Mirrors are widely used in daily life, and they are also essential items for us to apply makeup. LED smart bathroom mirrors are now widely used in hotels and households both domestically and abroad. But have you ever wondered how these mirrors are produced? In this article, we will take a closer look at the process of making smooth and high-quality mirrors, including copper-free silver mirrors.

Rinsing the Glass
The first step is to rinse the polished plate glass with distilled water that has been heated. This is because minerals in tap water can affect the reflective properties of the mirror during the silver-plating process. Therefore, tap water cannot be used in the entire cleaning process.
Preparing to Silver Plate
Silver cannot directly adhere to the surface of glass. Therefore, in the factory's mirror-making process, a minimal amount of stannous chloride solution is sprayed onto the flat glass to produce a sensitized layer of tin ions on the surface.
Silver Plating Process
The silver used here is actually a solution of silver nitrate, which is mixed with a reducing agent and then sprayed onto the stannous chloride solution-covered plate glass. After a few seconds, the reduced silver precipitates onto the glass surface, gradually depositing and hardening to form a reflective layer of silver membrane. At this point, one side of the silver-plated mirror can reflect light, but the manufacturing process is not yet complete!
Sealing the Silver Coating
The mirror is sprayed with a protective coating using a curtain coater. The mirror passes through the curtain coater, is uniformly drenched with the first layer of protective paint, and then immediately sent to a 99℃ oven for drying. It only takes 105 seconds for the coating to cure and attach to the mirror.
The second layer of coating is also applied using a curtain coater, but a different coating is used. Afterward, the mirror is sent to a 118℃ oven for drying. After 210 seconds, the coating also cures and attaches to the mirror.
Inspecting the Mirror
After applying the protective coating, the mirror is washed with acid to remove any excess metal residue. Then, workers will stand the mirror up and carefully inspect it for defects. Any bubbles are marked, and they are cut out when making small glass pieces.
Custom Cutting
The factory also customizes cutting according to the size and shape requested by the customer.
LED Smart Bathroom Mirrors
The LED smart bathroom mirror is produced through a cutting process according to the size, followed by the installation of LED light strips in a sealed groove on the mirror. Then, the fog-removing, time-temperature light functions are gradually carved into the switch button. Once the transformer and switch lights are connected, an LED smart mirror can be produced.
